Perhaps this new is not a novelty, but our vision is being damaged considerably  for a long time by the use of the technology (laptops, tablets, smartphones…). The problem is not only our eyes run the risk. Our organism does. Several studies and researches show that if  we look at our displays for a long period of time, specially before going to sleep, it causes disruption of biological rhythms that can affect our health.

Today’s screens are getting brighter and bigger. Also, screens emit blue wavelengths which are beneficial during daylight hours because they boost attention, reaction times, and mood. But it seems to be the most disruptive at night. The blue wavelengths block the melatonin production-a hormone that influences circadian rhythms. Researchers  have linked short sleep to increased risk for depression, as well as diabetes and cardiovascular problems.

Luckily, we can solve (or soothe) the problem if we install apps onto our devices.
